Each and every desktop or notebook or server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software that interacts with the hardware equipment, including peripheral devices such as a mouse and a printer, as well as any apps that are currently installed on your system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a server, each application runs within the parameters set by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etcetera. This goes for both standard Internet site scripts and server-side software like a media server. In case a virtual server is set up on a physical one, there can be two independent Operating Systems, called guest OS and host OS, which means that you will be able to set up a different software environment on the same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

We offer as many as three different Linux distributions for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are among the safest and the most reliable OSs you can find and we provide all three of them instead of just one since we realize that you might want to install some software with specific requirements for the Operating System it will run on. The latter is because each of the three Operating Systems has a large support community behind it and there're different software packages you can install on the hosting server. Your OS choice will also determine exactly what hosting Control Panel can be set up on the VPS if you would like to use one and for this reason we offer several Control Panels too. In case you decide that you want another OS, our tech support can quickly wipe the present one and set up the one that you would like. In addition, we offer an optional service to maintain the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

We offer three Operating Systems with our dedicated server packages - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They're all different Linux distributions and we offer them not only because they are free and they will not increase the price of your new server, but also because they are very secure and stable. Each of them is supported by a vast community of developers, so you will be able to choose from countless software packages that you may install on your server in case the app that you would like to employ has specific requirements. The Operating System will also determine what hosting Control Panel you can use since the Control Panels that we offer are compatible with particular OSs only and because we would like to give you as much versatility as possible, we offer several OSs and multiple Control Panels. If you get a server with a certain Operating System, we will change it upon request in case it turns out that you will need alternative one. We could also keep the OS updated weekly as a part of our useful Managed Services upgrade.
